What is Black Nitride?

The finishing process is a surface conversion process in place of industrial hard chrome and is therefore inherently free from nodules, flaking, pits, stripping, or anode burrs. The process results in chemical and structural composition changes that can be described as a case hardening to a depth of 0.005" of the alloy leading to increased surface hardness, lower coefficient of friction, enhanced surface lubricity, improved running wear performance, increased sliding wear resistance, enhanced corrosion resistance and heat resistance over industrial hard chrome. The process is a surface conversion and does not add material to the internal dimension of the bore. With hard chrome, the bore must be manufactured oversized or honed and electro-polished to make the interior dimension oversized making room for the chrome plating. This plating is inconsistent which is the reason sniper or target barrels are typically not chromed. It has proven superior as a surface finish to phosphate with oxidization when subjected to MIL-STD-810f salt fog/spray testing and is a scratch resistant flat black finish.

Upper Receiver
made from a mil spec forging 7075 aircraft grade aluminum. Our upper is superior to other uppers on the market because it is light weight and made to mil spec standards without compromising durability or ruggedness.

Gas Block
a low profile gas block made from hardened steel and has an inner diameter of .750.

Gas Tube
a pistol length gas tube.

Extended Latch Charging Handle
made from forged 7075 aircraft grade aluminum. Made to mil spec standards and features an extended latch which is neither too big nor too small. Engraved with the Ares Armor brand logo.

Ares Signature Barrel
7.5 inches in length, 1:7 twist, Black Nitride coated (see above) and has a pistol length gas system. All NFA rules apply.

Hand Guard
features the Ares Armor 5.5 inch Quad rail with is made from 6061 aircraft grade aluminum.

Ares Armor Phosphate Bolt Carrier Group (BCG)
for an AR15, M16, or M4. The Carrier is Parkerized on the outside and the inside is Chrome Lined. All Machining is completed to Mil-Spec. Properly Staked Gas Key. Gas key is chrome lined and heat treated. Carrier is made from 8620 and Heat Treated, Bolt is Heat Treated 9310. Bolt and Extractor are Shot Peened. Includes Crane O Ring.

Ares Effin-A MKII Compensator
designed to allow users the ability to adjust the manner in which the gas exits from the weapon.
