Reduced Friction BCG

NEW Bolt Carrier Group Review Just In!

I ran 500 rounds through a 10.5" pistol upper and have been impressed. The lubing channels were the most quantifiable improvement on the design over a standard bolt. I would need to run an equal number of rounds through identical guns with the exception of the bolt carrier to test the benefits of the reduced friction design. I experienced no stoppages or malfunctions, and the carrier wiped clean. The slightly extra weight of the carrier makes it a great candidate for SBR or pistol AR15s, causing increased dwell time.

Being a guy who uses grease on the charging handle and gas key, the lube channels became an obvious area to apply more grease. As expected, the grease stayed in the channels and fed the lubrication of the bolt.

I am a huge fan of nitriding. It is far superior to both chrome and nickel boron coatings in terms of durability and corrosion resistance. I left the bolt in a bucket of tap water for 3 days. I live in Nevada and our water is laden with minerals. After pulling it out, it looked brand new still.

After testing it in the pistol, I moved it to a new 20" rifle I built for myself. After testing head space, I ran another 50 rounds through the gun. Again, it functioned flawlessly.
