Praise the power of the internet and social media. Even Canadian Dan Aykroyd can make a comment about guns in America, and somehow it becomes relevant. Even more, his firing away about firearms goes viral. Now that seems crazy.

The 62-year old comedian, actor, writer, and businessman has been making the rounds globally promoting his Crystal Head Vodka. That he was drinking it during an interview on “The HuffPost Show” on Friday doesn’t seem to be a factor.

Wearing Elwood Blues sunglasses, Aykroyd was in the zone when he told hosts, Roy Sekoff and Marc Lamont Hill he believes police need more training in less lethal tactics:

“America is flat-out gun crazy. That’s it man…But of course, it’s guns in the wrong hands. There are alternatives. There’s a Taser. There’s a sound system you can use to disable someone. There’s a high-frequency generator you can use. There’s a net you can fire, and it completely closes over the top part of the body. So why aren’t we looking into these alternatives?”

Friends, we may surprise you here.

Ares Armor is not going to do what other pro-gunners are doing. We’re going to exercise caution, and show Dan Aykroyd the same respect we do with firearms. We’re going to put safety first.

Full disclosure: We do scratch our heads over why he turned down the role of “D-Day” in the movie, Animal House. However, here’s our six-shooter of reasons why we say many Americans are more crazy than Dan Aykroyd:

1. He married Donna Dixon.
2. He’s visited terminally ill children in hospitals (privately without publicity).
3. He’s admitted being diagnosed with certain conditions or “syndromes.”
4. Dan Aykroyd is admittedly “proficient with a firearm. He repeated it earlier in the HuffPost interview. He also told them, “The real heroes are teachers, nurses, firefighters, the armed forces, and the police.” He spoke fondly of his grandfather being a sergeant in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
5. He regularly supports law enforcement.

In fact, Dan Aykroyd admits he is obsessed with police and carries a badge on him. He also served decades on an auxiliary police committee in Harahan, Louisiana.

Recently, on his own initiative, Dan Aykroyd publicly pledged support to the children of fallen Philadelphia Police Officer Robert Wilson III, who was gunned down by two thugs during an armed robbery of a video game store. Wilson just happened to be in the store shopping for a gift to reward his little boy for doing well in school.

6. Dan Aykroyd may have powerful friends.

Truth be told, this is our big reason for not blasting him. We’re not talking about friends in Hollywood. We’re not talking Barry’s Buddies in politics. We’re not talking dangerous illegal aliens who cross our border either.

We’re pointing out Dan Aykroyd’s knowledge and encounters with UFOs and real aliens.

It’s true. The human who’s played Dr. Raymond Stantz in Ghostbusters, and Beldar Conehead in Coneheads, has been dead serious on the record multiple times about UFOs and aliens. He’s a consultant for a UFO Network. He even appeared in a 2005 documentary, “Dan Aykroyd Unplugged on UFOs.”

In an interview with the Sunday Times Magazine in the U.K., Dan Aykroyd shared why aliens stay away from earthlings:

“It’s because we are a violent species. They don’t want anything to do with us. They watch us. There were two white orbs over (New) Jersey when the second tower went down on 9/11. They were on CNN for about two minutes…They never showed it again.

Can you imagine what was going through their advanced minds when they saw what happened on 9/11? These humans crashing our highest evolution in aviation into our highest evolution in architecture and metallurgy, like kids wrecking toys in the sandbox. They (aliens) are disgusted with us. And rightly so. Because we are a depraved, disgusting species.”

So you see friends, our company is already under the watchful eyes of the ATF, and others in the Obama Administration. We don’t want or need to “make the list” of angry aliens from other planets by challenging a guy who knows them.

Therefore, we’ll just respectfully disagree with Dan Aykroyd. After all, he’s right when he says, “You’ve got guns in the hands of wrong people.” Unfortunately, he’s way off target in thinking that disarming the good guys (and gals) would somehow be a solution. Now that’s funny.

Call us crazy.

We just don’t see responsible, law-abiding American citizens, or the law enforcement community Dan loves, wanting a net or a sound system in their hands when a criminal or terrorist is armed with a gun.

The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution says, “…the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

• What part of that declaration isn’t as clear as the noses on the faces of Our Founding Fathers who wrote it?

• Why in the world do we still have so many Americans showcasing their ignorance and arguing about gun rights?

• Why is the Obama Administration actually trying to Infringe and take away this Constitutional Right?

Here’s the bottom line as we see it:

Even the aliens must be laughing their antennae off at all this nonsense “gunsense” arguing.

Dan Aykroyd, if you’re ever tuned in on the right extraterrestrial frequency to confirm this…please, kindly let us in on the joke.

Tim McGraw may wear a cowboy hat to hide his baldness. But it can’t hide the country star right now from being in the middle of America’s hottest gun rights controversy. It’s the latest hook to Sandy Hook.

Hartford…We Have a Problem

Most benefit concerts are safe for performers. They’re good for boosting the image, as well as the charitable cause. Notice we said, “most,” not all. Tim McGraw just announced he is going to headline a benefit concert in Hartford, Connecticut on July 17, 2015. The issue is 100% of the proceeds benefit Sandy Hook Promise. To its credit, the organization has some worthy programs and intentions. Yet, you’d have to label the group as “anti-gun.”

Whoopsie.

Tim McGraw has gotten rich and famous thanks to many gun-owning, gun-carrying, and card-carrying members of the “Willing to Die for Our Second Amendment Rights Club.” This just into the newsroom Tim, these folks don’t take kindly to any anti-gun agenda.

Sandy Hook Promise is the non-profit organization formed by families of children killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in December 2012. You simply can’t imagine what it’s like to be those families. But you can understand, how and why the organization was formed to try to make something good out of an unbearable tragedy.

There’s nothing wrong in trying to protect children from violence. Yet, there’s nothing right about trying to take away gun rights.

Adam Lanza had severe mental health issues which led him to commit a heinous act. However, if he mowed down 20 innocent kids and 6 adults behind the wheel of an F-150 pickup, President Obama wouldn’t have led the charge trying to take vehicles off America’s roads, would he?

In Tim McGraw’s defense, it seems he’s doing a personal favor for the fiddle player in his touring band. Dean Brown is good friends with Mark Barden, whose 7-year old boy, Daniel, was killed in the senseless 2012 massacre. “We are humbled Tim would do this for us,” said Barden. “Dean and his wife Cindy helped my wife and I through our darkest hour and helped buoy our spirits. It meant more than words could ever say.”

In the announcement Tim McGraw said, “Out of this tragedy a group was formed that made a promise to honor the lives lost and turn it into a moment of transformation. Sandy Hook Promise teaches we can do something to protect our children from gun violence. I want to be a part of that promise – as a father and as a friend.”

Fellow country singer Billy Currington feels differently. The opening act on McGraw’s “Shotgun Rider Tour” pulled out of the concert. Reports say he was unaware the concert would benefit Sandy Hook Promise. He has promised to make a donation to another charity in the Sandy Hook community.

Meanwhile, in trying to weather the storm, Tim McGraw has given a statement to the Washington Post. “Let me be clear regarding the concert for Sandy Hook given much of the erroneous reporting thus far. As a gun owner, I support gun ownership,” he said. “I also believe that with gun ownership comes the responsibility of education and safety — most certainly when it relates to what we value most, our children. I can’t imagine anyone who disagrees with that.”

To be continued. If Tim McGraw’s career crumbles, he may have to rely on his Faith. Hill, that is.

Right now, former U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle is smiling somewhere. A member of the Ares Armor team is smiling, too. Our webmaster, Shelly, is a proud Buckeye from The Ohio State University. For her, the controversy over the rival University of Michigan canceling the movie, “American Sniper” works like a line from another Clint Eastwood classic… “Go ahead, make my day.”

The Michigan University Center for Campus Involvement pulled American Sniper from its campus movie lineup for Friday night. This happened after a student, Lamees Mekkaoui, led a petition drive against a campus screening of the film. She gathered the signatures of a couple hundred of her fellow students.

A University of Michigan group calling itself the “Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) and Muslim Students claim the film is racist. Their petition stated:

The movie American Sniper promotes anti-Muslim and anti-MENA rhetoric and sympathizes with a mass killer. Chris Kyle was a racist who took a disturbing stance on murdering Iraqi civilians. Middle Eastern characters in the film are not lent an ounce of humanity and watching this movie is provocative and unsafe to MENA and Muslim students who are too often reminded of how little the media and world values their lives.

Dr. Suzanne Barakat, has publicly stated how American Sniper has contributed to a culture of Islamophobia in America. Although we respect the right to freedom of speech, we believe that with this right comes responsibility: responsibility of action, intention, and outcome.

Earth to the Wolverines: The movie IS titled, American Sniper.

The University of Michigan, “Big Blue” is now Black and Blue over the powerful backlash from shooting down the screening of American Sniper on campus.

Quickly, a second patriotic student petition spread across the Michigan campus in Ann Arbor. This one accused the university of censorship. The petition stated:

“The movie American Sniper is not about a racist mass murderer or a criminal. If the University prevents a movie like this from being shown, it promotes intolerance and stifles dialogue and debate on the subject and goes directly against the atmosphere UMix purports to provide. As adults at a public university, we should have the option to view this movie if we so choose and have the opportunity to engage on the topics it presents to come to our own conclusions on the subjects. Students should be trusted to interact responsibly on a movie no different than any other film depicting the lives of the troops at war, such as Saving Private Ryan.”

University of Michigan spokesman Rick Fitzgerald just announced the on-campus screening of American Sniper would be rescheduled for a yet to be determined date. This time, it will include, “an appropriate educational panel discussion.”

Now that has the makings for some interesting drama.

Woof. Woof. Texas State Trooper Billy Spears is in the dog house. No, he didn’t wrongly point a gun at someone while protecting U.S. Senator Ted Cruz. No, he didn’t bring illegal aliens across the border from Juarez to El Paso. Still, there’s all kinds of barking going on around him. It’s because he posed for the above photo with rapper, Snoop Dogg.

Billy Spears (not the wrestler, and we believe no relation to Britney) is assigned to the Gilmer, Texas office. Recently, while in uniform he was working to keep the peace at the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin. It became the scene of the crime with the Snoop Dogg Trooper photo.

Snoop Dogg saw Spears in a secured area at the event. He asked if they could take a photo together. Spears allowed it. Snoop Dogg’s publicist took the photo. It was then posted to Instagram, along with the line, “Me n my deputy dogg”

You can clearly see in the Snoop Dogg trooper photo the two are not “homeys.” Snoop Dogg is leaning on Spears’ shoulder. In return, Spears doesn’t wrap his arm around the rapper. It’s actually kind of awkward.

Texas Department of Public Safety supervisors have reportedly reprimanded Spears for opting in on the photo opp. DPS cited Spears for deficiencies which require counseling for posing with a known criminal. Spears claims he recognized Snoop Dogg, but didn’t know of his criminal record.

Snoop Dogg, (legal name Calvin Broadus) has multiple convictions on drug possession charges. Also, in 1993, the rapper was acquitted on a murder rap involving his bodyguard shooting and killing a gang member.

The action taken against Spears calls for “counseling.” It was not a formal disciplinary action. Thus, the trooper has no means of appeal.

Bryan, Texas attorney Ty Clevenger, is representing Spears. He said they’re alerting the public because his client has no recourse other than to accept the action. Clevenger says because of the Snoop Dogg trooper photo, the following is now in Spears’ personnel record:

“While working a secondary employment job, Trooper Spears took a photo with a public figure who has a well-known criminal background including numerous drug charges. The public figure posted the photo on social media and it reflects poorly on the Agency.”

Perhaps there is a compromise. After all, isn’t a photo “gone viral” with Snoop Dogg punishment enough? Call it community service. Just make Texas State Trooper Billy Spears burn an hour listening to Snoop Dogg music, and let him off with a warning. Then, remove the reprimand from his permanent record. We’re confident he’ll never make the same mistake again.
